National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship

Published May 7, 2008

The National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) was founded in 2002 to serve as the only organization exclusively devoted to the mission of accelerating entrepreneurship at America's community and technical colleges.

Arizona Western College is a proud member of the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship, or NACCE.  Founded in 2002, the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship is the only national organization devoted to advancing the cause of entrepreneurship education at the community college level.Given the relatively recent founding of the organization, some insight can be gained regarding the newness of entrepreneurship as a field of study at the community college level. Traditionally, entrepreneurship curriculum is not taught until the junior or senior year in college, if not during an MBA program.  However, many entrepreneurs never choose the university route before opening their business, so the community college seems an appropriate place to offer that type of training.

The organization provides networking opportunities for entrepreneurship faculty, as well as administrators who are interested in having their college become more entrepreneurial.  Arizona Western College has been a member of the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurs since 2004, and AWC's President, Dr. Don Schoening, currently serves on the board for NACCE.
